Project Description

The “King of Caulk and Talk” Doug Rye hosted his radio program, The Doug Rye Home Remedies Show, live at the open house event for this home. The house meets Doug’s recommendations for high-efficiency homes, featuring six-inch open cell spray foam insulation on the walls. The attic has an encapsulated roof with six to eight inches with open cell spray foam insulation, and the home was tested with a blower door to have .03 air changes per hour. The home includes a Renew Aire ERV fresh air system because it is so tightly insulated. It is located in the Terra Hills neighborhood in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Installation Details

Both geothermal units have Geo-Prime tanks for further efficiencies. The ground loop circuits are 8 – ¾” x 250 ft. each. The loop field is made up of 8 vertical wells. The loops are located in front of the home between the front door and corner of the garage in a 2 x 4 grid toward the road, demonstrating that the ground loops to power geothermal systems can easily fit in small spaces.
