Wesley Homes Vertical Loop

Wesley Homes, a premier home builder in the greater Metropolitan area of Minneapolis and St. Paul, has incorporated ECONAR GeoSource™ Heat Pumps into many of his new homes. This home, in an upper end development and with yard area at a premium, utilizes a vertical earth loop. The vertical loop system consists of 10 holes and bored to a depth of 96 feet each and spaced 10 feet apart. A high density PE3408 plastic pipe is inserted into every hole, connected at the bottom with a u-bend. All underground connections are fusion welded by the certified loop installer. The holes are then sealed using a bentonite grout and piped together to a common manifold that runs into the building below the frost line. The fluid that flows through the vertical loop system is a combination of water and food grade antifreeze. The system has an expected design life of 200 years and carries a 50-year warranty on the pipe from the manufacturer.
